Town of Summit
The Town Board met in regular session on February 5th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the town fire hall. President Frank Eccles,
members Kathleen Quale & Steve Christofferson present. Others present were: Norma Arend-finance officer, Marlin
Kasemodel, Calvin Pies and Steve Griffe.
Eccles called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Public communications: none
Motion by Quale, second by Eccles to approve the minutes, financial reports and claims as presented. Motion carried.
Old Business: update Summit vs. Crawford. A schedule from the Town’s attorney shows a trial date set for July 19-20,
2012.
Delinquent water bills were discussed.
New Business: The smoking issue at the Summit Bar was discussed with Marlin. Estimates will be obtained to construct
an outside smoke shack for the bar.
The Coffee Cup had requested an update in regard to the annexation agreement. Funds totaling $132,845 have been
sent in as sales tax payments since annexation. The board will have the old estimate from 2008 updated and revisit this
topic at a late date.
The Senior Nutrition has asked the Town for a $150 donation to help cover expenses for the senior meals offered at the
High Plains Café. Motion by Quale, second by Eccles to approve the donation. Motion carried.
Motion by Quale, second by Christofferson to accept the wastewater improvements project as completed with CDBG
funding. Motion carried.
The Town’s attorney prepared a proposed new ordinance for chapter 5-2 regarding alcoholic beverages. The second
reading of this new ordinance was held as follows: Motion by Quale, second by Eccles to approve the second reading of
this revised ordinance. Vote all aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Eccles, second by Quale to adjourn meeting. Motion carried. The next regular town board meeting will be
Monday, March 5th, 2012 at 7:00pm at the town fire hall.
